Many things
we use today
were invented
a long time ago.

Today's cars, trucks,
motorcycles, trains, ships
and planes are not much
different than they were
in the 1960's.

Consider the amazing
productivity enhancing
inventions in the past,
many over 100 years ago,
but still in use today:

1821 - Electric Motor (Michael Faraday)

1835 - Revolver (Samuel Colt)

1876 - Telephone (Alexander Graham Bell)

1879 - Incandescent Lamp - (Thomas Edison)

1883 - Alternating Current Motor (Nicola Tesla)

1885 - Motorcycle (Gottlieb Daimler)

1885 - Automobile (Karl Benz)

1893 - Motion Pictures (Thomas Edison)

1895 - Radio (Guglielmo Marconi)

1899 - Tape Recorder (Valdemar Poulsen)

1903 - Airplane (Orville and Wilbur Wright)

1904 - Tractor (Benjamin Holt)

1911 - Air Conditioning (Willis Carrier)

1923 - Frozen Food (Clarence Birdseye)

1926 - Liquid Powered Rockets (Robert Goddard)

1927 - Electronic Television (Philo T. Farnsworth)

1938 - Xerography (Chester Carlson)

1939 - Helicopter (Igor Sikorsky)

1944 - Computer (Howard Aiken)

1947 - Microwave Oven (Percy Spencer)

1955 - Fiber Optics (Narinder Kapany)

1965 - Compact Disc (James Russell)

1973 - Cell Phone (Martin Cooper)

1989 - World Wide Web ( Tim Berners-Lee)

Note:
The names above are people
who received patents for the invention,
or are widely credited with introducing
the version of the invention used today.

In many cases, other inventors
contributed to the invention
by doing experiments,
or making earlier versions.
