COVID-19 news from the latest "hot spot" -- Detroit metropolitan area

The Henry Ford
hospital system
reports that 700
employees have
tested positive
for COVID-19,
and must stay
at home.

The Beaumont
hospital system
reports that
1,500 employees
with respiratory
symptoms were
asked to stay
at home.

The June Detroit Auto
has been cancelled,
and its downtown facility
is being converted into
a 1,000-bed hospital.

The suburban Novi
Exposition Center
is also being converted
into a 1,000-bed hospital.

The June Detroit
Grand Prix auto race
has been cancelled.

The late June Detroit
fireworks, perhaps the
largest display
in the entire nation,
has not yet been
cancelled.

Food stores that are
open for business,
specifically the many
large Meijers stores,
( just starting) the policy )
and small Trader Joe's,
( since last week ),
are limiting the number
of people allowed to shop
in the store at one time.

Worth thinking about:
  Does the entire state
of Michigan need
forced unemployment,
that might make sense
for the Detroit metropolitan
area, for a month or more ?

Past epidemics
have always spread
fastest in densely
populated urban areas.

The Detroit
metropolitan area,
where we live,
has half of
the state's total
population of
10 million.

So a "one size fits all"
stay at home order,
for the entire state
of Michigan makes
no sense to me.

And finally, the Michigan
state legislature is
meeting today (in person),
and among the subjects
to be discussed is having
future meetings online !

Does that make sense ?
