US railroad intermodal container volume still looking good versus -- merchandise is coming, but I hope the virus does not stifle holiday shopping

for the week ending November 14, 2020
U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 295,316 containers and trailers, up +12.9 percent compared to the same week in 2019.

 

for the week ending November 7, 2020.
 "U.S. weekly intermodal (cargo containers) volume was 293,746 containers and trailers, up +10.3 percent compared to 2019.

 

After three months, August through October 2020, with intermodal units higher than the same months in 2019, the good news continues in November 2020.

 

October 2020:
"U.S. railroads originated 1,169,874
containers and trailers in October 2020,
up +10 percent, or 105,966 units,
from the same month last year."

September 2020:
"U.S. railroads originated 1,423,883
containers and trailers in September 2020,
up +7.1 percent, or 94,351 units,
from the same month last year."

August 2020:

"U.S. railroads originated 1,122,954
containers and trailers in August 2020,
up +3 percent, or 33,115 units,
from the same month last year."
