Supply Chain Problems: Sunday morning supermarket report

The wife and I go grocery shopping every Sunday at 7am at the huge Meijer's supermarket in Southfield, Michigan. The weekly sales start 6am Sunday when the store opens.  The overnight shelf stocking is just about done at 7am.  And there is usually no waiting for checkout.

Empty shelves are worse than ever before. And that's with the new store strategy of spreading out products wider and thinner on the shelves, to reduce empty shelves.

First stop for Kraft 8oz. chunks of cheese on sale for less than $2 each -- but the only choices were cheddar or colby -- all other flavors were out. Not what I wanted.

Phildelphia 8oz tubs of cream cheese -- I counted 48 available where there are usually over 200.  Spread out wide in rows of two instead of rows of one dozen tubs.

A huge number of empty shelves in the soda pop row.
Dr. Pepper 16.9oz. six packs were on sale for $3 each only if you bought five. I wanted two, but bought the last five six packs in the store to save $1 each.

ACE bread from Canada was out again. I may add this item to list of several products we don't bother looking for anymore.

Packaged deli meats (the deli is closed at 7am):
I wanted three 7oz. packages of thin sliced salami, but only one was available. There was only one other choice -- it was only 6 ounces, yet cost more. I bought three -- who knows what will be available next week?

Steel cut oats -- none left in store

SUMMARY: The quantity of empty shelves are still rising !
